Weight Gainer Shakes – What’s Up With Them ?

peanut butter

Peanut butter is your best friend.

I have long been into the health and fitness field. When I just started out, I was using a regime that includes a lot of these over-hyped weight gainer shakes, what most skinny people thought to be some form of a magic powder that will let them turn into the hulk in a matter of a night sleep. That, of course, is inaccurate at best.

These weight gainer shakes and powders are nothing more than nutrient-dense products that are geared towards people who do not have enough appetite to reach their daily amount of solid foods. That’s usually the case with professional bodybuilders, weightlifters and power lifters, but not the case with the average trainee. Somehow, it reached the private market and many young trainees are mistakenly buying it with the mindset of buying a magic potion in mind.

How to Use Protein Powders and Create an Homemade Meal Replacement Shake ?

I stopped buying these weight gaining powders after a short while, and the truth is that I even stopped using protein powders (I did not need enormous amounts of protein every day) not so long after. But, if you are looking to create a nice, tasty homemade meal replacement shake at the comfort of your own crib, that is very easy to achieve.

My preferred way of doing that is taking a blender (of course) and putting some peanut butter (non sugared, non salted) inside, something like three tablespoons, putting some green leafy vegetables as well (they are horrendous isolated, but the other tastes will easily cover their horrendousness), and a piece of protein, be it a scoop of protein powder or a few eggs inside. I also add some banana or other fruit, for the sake of a good taste. Cover all of that with water (or organic whole milk, for a huge boost of nutritional value – both calories and protein. I just don’t drink milk personally), and a few cubes of ice, and you’re ready to go. Sounds tasty, isn’t it?

What Are The Benefits of Homemade Shakes Instead of Commercial Ones ?

Naturally, with homemade shakes (whatever kind of), you can control the variables much more accurately. What I mean is that you know exactly what you put inside, which allows you to take care of your health more responsibly. I personally put everything fresh and organic, and thus enjoy the most more nutritional – much more refreshing shake than its processed alternative.

You can also tweak your shake far easily, to fit your specific nutritional needs. If you’re trying to gain weight, and no matter if you are using a protein powder or raw eggs, it’s much easier to tweak the shake when variables are set apart. Need more fat into your diet? Great! peanut-butter be your friend. Need more carbohydrates? Awesome. Oat be your savior. You get the point.

Whatever you choose to follow, I’d recommend to make sure that your overall diet and nutrition is strict and nutritious. This is far more important than this or that specific shake. Health is our biggest asset, and I believe it is our responsibility to take care of it, not our governmental and medicine industries.
